The Opportunity
Hologenomix B.V., a biotechnology start-up located in Delft, The Netherlands, is pioneering innovative cell-free nucleic acids (cfDNA and cfRNA) extraction technology from biofluids, with a core focus on urine. The company aims to overcome critical challenges in cell-free nucleic acid isolation to facilitate accessible and non-invasive molecular diagnostics. With applications in cancer detection, transplant monitoring, and personalized medicine, Hologenomix is driving advancements in the liquid biopsy field. Our mission is to redefine molecular diagnostics by increasing the potential of alternative biofluids, enabling improved outcomes and a patient-friendly approach. This is a full-time, on-site role for a Research Scientist based in Delft, The Netherlands. The Research Scientist will lead and contribute to the development and optimization of innovative cell-free nucleic acid extraction methods. Responsibilities include performing laboratory experiments, analyzing data, writing reports, developing protocols, and collaborating with clinical teams to bring new molecular diagnostic solutions to life. The role also involves staying updated on the latest developments in the field and contributing to grant proposals and scientific publications.
What you will actually do

Who you are
- Education: PhD or Master's degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or a related field
- Technical expertise: Expertise in molecular biology techniques such as nucleic acid isolation, (q)PCR, nucleic acid sequencing
- Experience: Experience with biofluid analysis and biomarker research
- Data analysis: Proficiency in data analysis tools and software relevant to molecular diagnostics
- Problem-solving: Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to design and optimize experiments
- Communication: Excellent documentation, report writing, and communication skills
- Languages: Proficiency in English, Dutch is a plus
- Experience in a biotechnology start-up or research environment is a plus
- Ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team and manage projects efficiently
