Jack Schalken
Chair
Jack A Schalken PhD ('59) was trained as biochemist at the Radboud University Nijmegen, where he also obtained his PhD degree (1987). He did his post doc with Dr John T Isaacs at Johns Hopkins Hospital (Baltimore, MD). Since then he is director of urological research at the Radboud University Medical Center and his lab is housed in the Nijmegen Center for Molecular Life Sciences (www.ncmls.ru.nl) a state of the art research facility for molecular- and cell biology. In 1996 Dr Schalken was (co-) appointed as full professor of veterinary oncology at the University of Utrecht. Since 2001 he is professor of experimental urology at the Radboud University (Nijmegen). He is (co-) author on > 325 peer reviewed publications and 73 chapters.
Joris Schuurmans

Joris Schuurmans is an experienced Life Sciences professional with extensive background in biopharmaceutical and molecular diagnostics, spanning Fortune 500 companies, start-ups, and consulting roles. He currently serves as CEO of Delta Life Science and Head of Diagnostics at Tessellate BIO, where he contributes to developing molecular diagnostics for cancer treatment. Additionally, he chairs the project steering committee at Vitroscan overseeing the BiotechBooster initiative for ovarian cancer treatment selection, and serves as advisory board chair for Cyclomics and LevelsDx. Joris also supports the KWF Dutch Cancer Society as a member of their Cluster Advisory Board for early detection and intervention.

Jan Groen is a senior life sciences executive with extensive C-level experience developing, growing, and selling companies in diagnostics and pharmaceuticals, with a proven track record of increasing shareholder value. He has successfully raised over $150 million from private, venture, and commercial funders, with global licensing and sales expertise across EU and US markets. Groen has published over 125 scientific papers and holds numerous awards and patents in biomarker discovery, cancer genetics, and molecular diagnostics. He currently serves on the boards of three life science companies.
